Description

Painting Process:

For the “Winnow Stag” painting, my process includes several steps. I begin with a graphite sketch on watercolor paper that I mounted to birch board. Next, watercolor is the first layer to establish the mood, tones, and color scheme. Then I shift back and forth between oil based colored pencils and gouache to refine and render the painting. I strive to select vibrant and archival pigments throughout my process. Check out my listing photos to see examples of the paints, brushes, and other materials I used!

“Winnow Stag” 3×3 Painting Story:

“The Filigree Stags of Terratoff grow magnificent elaborate antlers, each with a unique and intricate design. The patterns and shapes are different for each herd, regarded as a reflection and secret language of their territory . But what should happen when a stag’s antlers come in ordinary and plain? These stags become outcast or have difficulty finding a mate. Usually their antler’s full development and glory is still yet to come, but few of these ordinary stags are willing to wait…”
