Description
Drawing Process:
For “The Sugarplum Seelie Fae” fairy drawing, my process includes several steps. First, the sketch is drawn softly with a light colored mechanical pencil or graphite to draft the idea. I follow up with several shades of different wax colored pencils to add depth and a sense of atmosphere to the drawing. Then graphite is drawn on top to tighten and clean the drawing as well as add details. The colored sketch remains intact and subtly visible beneath the graphite of the final drawing. This process captures not just the final illustration, but also preserves the journey from sketch to finish with each layer of color. I hope you enjoy the “Sugarplum Seelie Fae Drawing”!
“The Sugarplum Seelie Fae” Story:
“Beyond the gates of Terratoff, there lies another realm that was once overflowing with the power of magic and enchanted creatures. This world known as “Twom” (The World of Man) is magical no more, but memories remain of the miraculous creatures that once roamed the land.
A race known as “The Fae” ruled over all other magical creatures of Twom, their kind bound by the seasons and an unpredictable whimsical nature. Their court consisted of two factions, the “Seelie” and “Unseelie”.
The light “Seelie” of summer and spring were benevolent beings that were both generous and capricious in spirit. The autumn and winter “Unseelie” were both malevolent and eerie, truly
untamed.
The sugarplum spring fae of the Seelie court brought the promise of joy and festivities. As her luminous glow melted away the winter snow, her blossoms reminded the people of Twom of the happiness found in the light. She readied her blossoms to one day become sugarplums, a gift for the children to delight in during the holiday season. Alas, she never got to see the joy on their faces for herself, for she would be hibernating when the fruit was finally ripe in the winter. “”
