Description

Painting Process:

For the “Rotten Stag” painting, my process includes several steps. I begin with a graphite sketch on watercolor paper that I mounted to birch board. Next, watercolor is the first layer to establish the mood, tones, and color scheme. Then I shift back and forth between oil based colored pencils and gouache to refine and render the painting. I strive to select vibrant and archival pigments throughout my process. Check out my listing photos to see examples of the paints, brushes, and other materials I used!

“Once a stag wanders away from their herd they are vulnerable to Rotten corruption. It is all too easy to tempt them into darkness with the promise of a formidable set of new antlers. But once they have given into temptation it’s already too late. They may have the horns of their dreams, but the cost is always too great… ”
