Description
Painting Process:
For the “Rotten Leviathan” painting, my process includes several steps. I begin with a graphite sketch on watercolor paper that I mounted to birch board. Next, watercolor is the first layer to establish the mood, tones, and color scheme. Then I shift back and forth between oil based colored pencils and gouache to refine and render the painting. I strive to select vibrant and archival pigments throughout my process. Check out my listing photos to see examples of the paints, brushes, and other materials I used!
“Rotten Leviathan” 3×3 Painting Story:
“The Rotten hoard came for him in the night, dragging him down from the sky and locking him up tight. Captured by the Rotten Mother, she kept the Leviathan sealed away, forbidden to even look upon his beloved sky. The old creature wept away his hope little by little each night… until the eve she took his mighty wings.
The Leviathan had no more tears left, only rage. It filled his heart with corruption and the Rotten Mother knew her task was complete. She released him back into the sea to hunt down her enemies, and the most feared name in the ocean he became. He ceaselessly hunts with a vengeful rage that cannot be quelled. For he will never reach his beloved sky again, forever taunted as it looks down on him from above. “”
