Description
Painting Process:
For the “Meet Me At The Moonbow Bridge” painting, my process includes several steps. I begin with a sketch that I develop into a finished drawing using wax based archival colored pencils, and graphite. Next the drawing is scanned, then printed out at a low opacity onto hot press watercolor paper. Now the painting begins! Watercolor is the first layer to establish the mood, tones, and color scheme. Then I shift back and forth between oil based colored pencils and gouache to refine and render the painting. I strive to select vibrant and archival pigments throughout my process. Check out my listing photos to see examples of the paints, brushes, and other materials I used!
“Meet Me At The Moonbow Bridge” Painting Print Story:
“The Moon looked down upon the world of men, and saw that the lights were fading one by one. Sorrow covered the world, and some souls that should have been shining brightly were overcome by shadow. Despite how strongly she glowed, she despaired that her light could not reach those that needed her most. So one night she shone as strong as the sun, and created the “Moonbow Bridge.” Calling forth her guardians, the black cats crossed the bridge from a realm beyond to offer aid to her cause. She sent them down to the earth with her blessing, and hope that light would return.
Many in the world of men feared the black cats and misunderstood their mystical ways, but the cats were determined to fulfill their task. Even though the world shunned and often neglected them, they sought out the Moon’s favored, those that wanted to be a light in the dark themselves. People that claimed these magical creatures gained a loyal companion, good fortune, and the strength to face the darkness together. The devotion of the black cats was unwavering, and their familiar magic formed an unbreakable bond with their humans. The moon beamed with pride, and she sought a way to reward her faithful friends.
When a black cat had completed their time on the earth, the moon called them back to her, back across the stars to a sanctuary at the foot of her Moonbow Bridge. She had made “The Black Cat Garden” just for them, a wondrous place of shadows and light. The cats that journey there chase wisps of long tailed mice and birds all day, and lounge by the rainbow lakes. Under the moonbeams they bask and play, able to look down upon the realms below while they patiently wait for someone else to arrive…
When the waters glow and the twinkling stars sing, the cat will know the time has come. Their human will journey across the stars to them, and reunite in the Black Cat Garden. Then the two may cross the Moonbow Bridge together to the many realms beyond…”
