Description

Painting Process:

For “The Charming Cat” painting print, my process includes several steps. I begin with a sketch that I develop into a finished drawing using wax based archival colored pencils, and graphite. Next the drawing is scanned, then printed out at a low opacity onto hot press watercolor paper. Now the painting begins! Watercolor is the first layer to establish the mood, tones, and color scheme. Then I shift back and forth between oil based colored pencils and gouache to refine and render the painting. I strive to select vibrant and archival pigments throughout my process. “The Charming Cat” Painting Print Story:

“Far across the fields of Terratoff there stands an enchanted overgrown Labyrinth. It’s twisted pathways of thorn and vine lead its wanderers into both light and shadow. Those who venture through its tunnels of branches seek to complete the quest known as “The Trial of the Mind”. Travelers wits are tested as they must resist temptation and overcome devious tricks.

Some of the creatures that dwell there offer aide, others seek to disorient and mislead the pilgrims into darkness. On a gnarled branch overlooking a fork in the road awaits a charming cat with a dark mask of fur on its face. His shimmering gold eyes are welcoming, but can he be trusted to speak the truth?”
