Description

Drawing Process:

For the “Queen Nema” faun drawing, my process includes several steps. First, the sketch is drawn softly with a light colored mechanical pencil or graphite to draft the idea. I follow up with several shades of different wax colored pencils to add depth and a sense of atmosphere to the drawing. Then graphite is drawn on top to tighten and clean the drawing as well as add details. The colored sketch remains intact and subtly visible beneath the graphite of the final drawing. This process captures not just the final illustration, but also preserves the journey from sketch to finish with each layer of color.

“Queen Nema” Faun Drawing Story:

“During the “Restoration Age” of Terratoff, the Winnow (pure) creatures of the realm lived in relative peace and harmony thanks to Queen Gloria. It was she who turned the tide against the Rotten army, bringing mankind and Winnow together in partnership against the great plague that corrupted magical creatures from within.

But the peace would not last forever, fate would have Terratoff slip back into darkness yet again… starting with a grave betrayal. The return of the Rott began on the night Queen Gloria was brutally slain at the threshold of her throne by one of her own daughters. A witness but unable to intervene, Nema’s heart broke as her mother’s blood was spilled…her sister lost… her family destroyed.

Swept away by the royal guard, Nema’s life was spared that dark night. Though she yet lived, there was no time for her to mourn for her mother, for the shadow had only just begun to spread…From the ramparts she and her soldiers saw the Rotten army marching across the land… coming to take the castle. Their forces far too great to overcome.

To save her people, Nema abandoned the castle and fled under ground into the dark with her followers…where they would wait in hiding while the Rott reclaimed and spoiled the land.

Though all seemed lost and her soul filled with grief, Nema quietly took on the mantle of the crown, and began to devise a plan to restore the Winnow back into the light. Using her powers over water, she started speaking through puddles in the dark tunnels, hoping to reach someone who could help… even if they had to travel across the realms to find them… ”
