Drawing Process:

For the “Princess Jacandy” faun drawing, my process includes several steps. First, the sketch is drawn softly with a light colored mechanical pencil or graphite to draft the idea. I follow up with several shades of different wax colored pencils to add depth and a sense of atmosphere to the drawing. Then graphite is drawn on top to tighten and clean the drawing as well as add details. The colored sketch remains intact and subtly visible beneath the graphite of the final drawing. This process captures not just the final illustration, but also preserves the journey from sketch to finish with each layer of color.

“Princess Jacandy” Faun Drawing Story:

“Gloria, the late Queen of Terratoff, had three daughters. Jacandy was the first born twin from her first pregnancy. Out of the three sisters, Jacandy is the strongest and most serious in temperament.

Known as “The Sword of the Kingdom” Jacandy is the most powerful and mentally sharp soldier in the land. Her leadership and courage were undeniable from birth, and she quickly found her place training to fight the magical plague of their realm called “The Rott”. All expect her to become a great leader of her majesty’s armies, maybe even Queen herself someday. She is the most respected and trusted of the three sisters. She and her raven companion (Beshiltheeni) bring comfort and inspiration to their subjects when they walk the streets.

Jacandy is a determined but somewhat quiet creature. She does not like to waste words, but definitely has a flair for the dramatic when she does have something to say. She doesn’t like surprises, but she’s always prepared for them. Although she can sometimes appear outwardly cold, Jacandy relishes expressing herself through fashion. She is known for wearing elaborate (but still functional) armor on the field and at court. Her favorite colors are silver and gold.

Being of the metal element, Jacandy’s powers include superior strength and resilience. She is able to manipulate the minerals in the earth to cause small local quakes. She can also channel electricity freely through her body and throw lightning bolts at her enemies, though this is very draining on her. Jacandy takes comfort knowing that her life is basically already planned out and she can focus on training, but little does she know that her journey is about to lead her down a new and darker path…”
